Dentures are removable oral appliances that are used to replace one or more missing teeth. Dentures are made from acrylic, gum-colored materials, and tooth-colored ceramic to mimic the appearance of natural teeth and gums. At Lowery Smiles, we provide the latest dentures to help our patients restore the aesthetics of their oral cavity.

- Dentures help restore the functionality of the mouth, such as eating and speaking normally.
What Are the Different Types of Dentures?
Dentures can be categorized based on their material, type, and usage. Here’s a list of various types of dentures:
- Complete/Full Dentures
Complete/full dentures are used to replace all the teeth in a patient’s mouth. The process begins with removing all the remaining teeth before fabricating the dentures. The prosthetic teeth will be placed in position over a dental framework in order to hold them in place. A complete denture can take up to six months to be fabricated and cemented in place.
- Partial Dentures
Partial dentures are used when patients have some natural teeth remaining in their mouth and need support for these teeth. The partial dentures are fabricated using ceramic or porcelain material. Partial dentures can be fixed using clips or adhesives on adjacent teeth or held in place using a dental framework.
What Is the Process for Getting Dentures?
When you visit our dental practice for the initial consultation, our dentist will conduct a thorough diagnosis to determine if you would require dentures to replace your missing teeth. If so, we will take X-rays and molds to create an impression of your jaws and gums using acrylic. It will be used as a reference for fabricating the dentures in a dental laboratory after taking scans and X-rays of it to create a 3D model of it on a computer screen. The dentist will share this data with the laboratory so that it can be used for fabricating the prosthetic appliance in a few days’ time.
When the dentures are ready, we will schedule another consultation for you so that we can check their fit and make any necessary changes if required before giving them to you. We will also teach you how to care for them so that they last for several years without hassle.
